Autumn/Winter 17 trends May 27, 2017 10:41
Whats trending on the runway...
Saying goodbye to Summer is always hard, but if you can find comfort in one thing, it's that there are so many fresh trends that you can try this Autumn. The most apparent trend that we’ve seen a rise in is in the sleeve department.
If you look at Celine’s AW ‘17/’18 ready to wear collection you’ll notice that throughout the collection a lot of emphasis has been placed on the sleeves. From oversized sleeves to little button details Celine shows us that a good sleeve can make all the difference.

This is also seen in local Aussie designer Anna Quan’s Resort 18 collection, which just showed at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (watch the full show here.) The oversized sleeve detail combined with the unique designs of her shirts takes the classic shirt to a whole new level. She even shows you how you how you can wear your shirt as a one shouldered top or turn two shirts in to one (click here to view the full looks)
Other trends that we’ve seen creep up this autumn is power dressing (and by this we mean tailoring at its finest.)
Take for instance Bec and Bridge, while the collection that showed at MBFW had its signature rebellious feminine pieces, this collection saw the rise in structured ruffled pieces and like Celine and Anna Quan also placed a lot of emphasis in its sleeves. (View the full collection here)
Another brand that combines sleeve detailing with amazing tailoring is Misha Collection. The sophisticated structured body shapes of these garments combined with an eye-catching element in the sleeves make for an understated stylish look that you can complete with a statement pouch.
The key with picking the right bag to go with this outfit is to go with something that doesn’t overpower the outfit. So depending on the accessories you have in mind (if you’re thinking of something a little bold with the Larissa blazer dress) pull back with a classic pouch like the Gucci printed coated canvas leather pouch
Or if you’re thinking of simply pairing the dress with minimal jewelry add a pop of colour to finesse and complete your look (our Valentino would be the perfect addition to finish your look)
